It is important to emphasise that only in extreme circumstances will Christ Church close. We will always try to keep the school open come rain, shine or blizzard. But ... we may have to close if circumstances mean it has become too cold in school/ nursery or too risky for children, staff and parents to travel safely to and from Christ Church.
Naturally, we hope that the emergency procedures do not have to be brought into action. However, if they are, please use them to obtain accurate information concerning the school closure.
So, in the unfortunate but necessary event of school closure, or partial closure, we will attempt to alert you in one or more of the following ways:
BBC Somerset: 95.5FM or 1566AM and Heart FM: 96.5/97.1 or 102.6FM
(These radio stations can also be accessed online.)
The school telephone will operate from 9.00–10.00am and 3.00–4.00pm each day; the number is 01373 463781.
We will also advise any closures via our school texting service. Please remember that text messages can be delayed when mobile phone networks become busy. Please ensure that we have your up-to-date mobile number.
A message will be posted on the school home page.
Finally, if snow does settle we would welcome the assistance of willing VOLUNTEER SNOW WARDENS to work with us to clear snow and ice from school footpaths and play areas. So, if there is snow to be cleared, and you are reasonably fit and healthy (and can bring your own shovel), please report to the school car park at 7.30am. For legal reasons I need to point out that volunteer snow wardens undertake snow clearing work at their own risk. Thank you.
